Best AI Writing Tools for Content Teams and Agencies (2026): Seats, Workspaces and Pricing Compared
Affiliate disclosure: Supa may earn a commission if you sign up through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. NeuronWriter, Scalenut and Koala pay us a recurring commission for as long as you stay a customer. Frase and Writesonic pay us a recurring commission for your first 12 months, and Simplified pays a recurring commission. Surfer pays us a one-time commission. Jasper has no affiliate program, and we don't link to it. No company reviews or approves this page, and commissions don't decide our rankings.
A writing tool that works well for one person can fall apart once five writers, an editor and three clients share it. Teams and agencies need different things from a solo blogger:
- Seats and roles, so writers, editors and clients each get the right access.
- Separate client workspaces (sites, projects, domains or "brands"), so one client's data never leaks into another's.
- Reports you can hand to a client, ideally exportable or white-labeled.
- Predictable costs when volume spikes: pay-as-you-go, rollover or a hard stop at the limit.
- Integrations with your CMS, Google Search Console and, increasingly, AI assistants through MCP.
We compared seven tools on those points, using only what each company publishes.

#2 Surfer
Best for large optimization teams
Pricing: Standard $99/mo yearly (3 seats); Pro $182 (5 seats, 5 brand workspaces); Peace of Mind $299 (10 seats, unlimited* workspaces). Enterprise custom.
Best for: SEO agencies and large in-house teams whose day-to-day work is optimizing content.

Cons

- The jump from Pro to Peace of Mind is $117/mo on yearly billing
Surfer's team features are the most detailed of any optimizer here, and Peace of Mind is the only self-serve plan in this guide with 10 seats included. Annual plans are charged upfront, and annual credits reset yearly.
#3 Scalenut
Best for agencies with many client domains
Pricing: Plus $89/mo ($31 annual promo), up to 4 members, 2 workspaces; Professional $199 ($70 promo), unlimited members and workspaces; VIP Service custom.
Best for: Agencies running SEO for many client sites on a fixed budget.

- Cannibalization analysis and advanced keyword planner on Professional
- Optional add-ons: AI Link Manager, Backlinks Marketplace and Social Upreach
- VIP Service: done-for-you team with senior strategist, writers and editors, SLAs and weekly reports
Pros
- Unlimited members and domains on one plan
- Clusters, audits and optimization built in
- A dedicated CSM below enterprise pricing
Cons
- Prompt tracking refreshes weekly, not daily
- Roles, client reporting and API access aren't stated on the pricing page
- Promo deals are non-refundable
Scalenut's Professional plan is the only plan in this guide that lists unlimited team members and unlimited workspaces (domains) at a fixed price, which matters for agencies that add clients every month.
Dated offer (checked Oct 23, 2026): Scalenut's "Black Friday Early Access" deal gives 65% off and 3X limits on annual plans only. The FAQ says deals are non-refundable and have limited slots, and the page doesn't give an end date. Monthly prices are unchanged. Confirm the live price before you buy.
#4 NeuronWriter
Best budget pick for agencies
Pricing: Gold $69/mo ($690/yr), 10 projects, 75 docs; Platinum $93, 25 projects; Diamond $117, 50 projects. Unlimited team members from Gold. Bronze/Silver only allow read-only sharing.
Best for: Small agencies and freelance collectives that need many logins and client projects on a tight budget.
Key features
- Unlimited team members from Gold
- Projects work as client containers: 10, 25 or 50
- Content Designer, New ideas, advanced and custom templates from Gold
- GSC, WordPress and Shopify integrations, own OpenAI key, API/MCP/AI Assistant from Gold
- 7-day trial on Gold terms and 30-day refund window on first plan
Pros
- Unlimited members for $69/mo
- 50 projects for $117/mo
- Low risk: 30-day refund window on the first plan
Cons
- Fewer documents per month than Surfer (150 vs 360 or more)
- Roles, client reporting and support levels aren't stated
- Light AI search monitoring (10 to 20 questions) without the paid add-on
NeuronWriter unlocks unlimited team members from its Gold plan at $69/mo. That's the lowest price in this guide for adding as many writers as you need. Bronze ($23) and Silver ($45) allow only read-only sharing of documents, so teams should start at Gold.
#5 Writesonic
Best for brand AI visibility programs
Pricing: Basic $199/mo yearly (~$249 monthly), 2 users, 1 project, 100 daily prompts; Growth $399/~$499, 3 users, 2 projects, 200 daily prompts; Enterprise custom.
Best for: Brand and PR teams, and agencies selling GEO retainers, who need daily AI-answer tracking.
Key features
- 5 (Basic) or 10 (Growth) brand voices
- Sentiment analysis and Action Center trial on Growth; full Action Center, SSO/SAML and dedicated AI search strategist on Enterprise
- Agentic workflows: 50 or 100 trial runs a month
- Integrations with GSC, WordPress, GA4 and Looker Studio
- Free trial with no card and 7-day no-questions-asked refund
Pros
- Highest daily prompt volume of the self-serve plans here
- Looker Studio integration for client dashboards
- Audits and articles come with the tracking
Cons
- Few projects (1 or 2) for an agency below Enterprise
- At most 5 users on self-serve plans
- Self-serve plans track three AI platforms; "all 9" is Enterprise only
Writesonic is now an AI search visibility (GEO) platform first. Its pricing page targets brands and agencies that want to "find which prompts recommend your competitors instead of you" and fix that with AI agents. SEO articles and site audits come bundled.
#6 Koala
Best for high-volume publishing networks
Pricing: Boost $99/mo (250k words, 1 brand); Growth $179 (500k, 3 brands); Elite $350 (1M, 7); Advanced $500 (1.5M, 12); Scale I–III $750–$2,000 (2.5M–10M, 20–75 brands). Extra brands $29/mo each up to 10.
Best for: Publishing teams running many niche or affiliate sites.
Key features
- Brand DNA profiles keep each site's voice separate
- KoalaLinks internal linking across up to 50 sites from Professional
- Content Calendar Autopilot from Boost
- Bulk writing mode, API and MCP on every paid plan
- One-click publishing to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost, plus webhooks
- Monthly plans roll unused words and credits forward, up to 3 months' allowance
Pros
- Scales to millions of words and dozens of brands
- Rollover helps when publishing volume varies month to month
- Widest CMS publishing support here
Cons
- No seats, roles or approval workflows stated
- AI search visibility tracking isn't listed
- Word-based limits shrink if you use premium models (2x or 3x)
Koala prices by words and brands, not seats, and its FAQ says sharing an account within your organization is allowed. For a team running a network of content sites, the useful unit is the brand. Annual billing saves 20%.
#7 Simplified
Best for social and campaign teams
Pricing: Starter ~$79/mo (verify); Pro $99/mo yearly ($119 monthly), 3 seats, 15 campaigns; Business $199/$239, 7 seats, 40 campaigns. Verify prices at checkout.
Best for: Social and campaign teams that care more about multichannel output than search rankings.
Key features
- Pro: 3 seats, unlimited AI words/designs/videos, 15 social accounts, 3 brand kits
- Business: 7 seats, 30 social accounts, unlimited brand kits, bulk scheduling, external client approval, advanced campaign analytics
- Extra campaigns: $10 each
- Trial includes full Starter access (5 campaigns, 100K AI words, 100 AI designs); length not stated
Pros
- Copy, design, video and scheduling in one place
- Client approval workflow on Business
Cons
- Few SEO features stated (no content scoring or search tracking listed)
- Inconsistent pricing information
- Affiliate terms and trial length need checking
Simplified is less an SEO writer than a campaign tool. Its pricing page says its agents produce "copy, design, video, and scheduling" for each campaign, and you approve what ships. It belongs on this list for marketing teams that publish across social channels, not for teams focused on search.
Pricing note: Simplified's pricing page isn't consistent. The visible copy prices Starter at "$79 per month" without saying how it's billed, and the page's structured data lists Starter at $79 annual and $59 monthly, which would make monthly billing cheaper than annual. That's unlikely. The Pro and Business prices come from that structured data. Check the price at checkout before you commit.
How we chose
We haven't run our team-workflow tests yet, so this ranking is provisional. We ranked the tools on what each company publishes:
- Seats, roles and workspaces per dollar.
- Agency features: client separation, exportable or white-label reporting, client approval.
- SEO and AI search depth, since most content teams are measured on traffic and, more and more, on AI mentions.
- Cost control: what happens when you hit a limit.
- Integrations and API/MCP access for teams that automate.
We don't invent seat prices, limits or support terms. If a pricing page doesn't state something, we say "not stated." Read our methodology.
Also considered: Jasper
Jasper is aimed squarely at enterprise marketing teams, with Brand Voices, Knowledge assets, Audiences, agents and, on Business, Jasper Grid, a no-code agent builder, API access, SSO and admin controls. The catch for teams is that Pro ($59 per seat a month billed yearly, $69 monthly) includes one seat. Jasper's FAQ says you need to contact sales for the custom Business plan if you want more users. Jasper doesn't run an open affiliate program, so there's no affiliate link here. See Jasper alternatives.
Who should choose what
- In-house team of 3 to 5 people on 1 to 5 sites: Frase Professional.
- Agency managing up to 10 client sites that wants exportable client reports: Frase Scale.
- Team of 5 to 10 optimizers working through a big backlog: Surfer Pro or Peace of Mind.
- Agency adding new clients every month: Scalenut Professional, for unlimited members and domains.
- Freelance collective or small agency on a tight budget: NeuronWriter Gold or Diamond.
- Brand or PR team reporting on AI mentions: Writesonic Basic or Growth.
- Publishing network with many niche sites: Koala Growth and up.
- Social and campaign team: Simplified, after you confirm its pricing.
FAQs
What is the best AI writing tool for agencies?
On published plans, it depends on how you scale. If you add clients often, Scalenut Professional lists unlimited members and domains. If you need exportable client reports, Frase Scale covers 10 domains with 5 seats. If you need more seats, Surfer Peace of Mind includes 10, plus unlimited* brand workspaces. The cheapest way to get unlimited logins is NeuronWriter Gold. This order is provisional until we test the tools.
Which AI writing tool has the most seats?
Of the published self-serve plans, Scalenut Professional and NeuronWriter Gold and up list unlimited team members. Surfer Peace of Mind includes 10 seats, Simplified Business 7, Frase Scale 5 (plus $29/mo per extra seat) and Writesonic up to 5 users.
Which tools offer white-label reports?
Frase offers white-label reports and a client portal on Enterprise, and client-ready exportable reports on Scale. The other pricing pages we checked don't state white-label reporting.
Can several clients share one account?
Most tools separate clients into workspaces: sites (Frase), brand workspaces (Surfer), workspaces (Scalenut), projects (NeuronWriter, Writesonic) or brands (Koala). Check the limit on your plan before you onboard a new client.
What happens when my team hits its monthly limit?
Frase Starter stops at its limit, and Professional and Scale offer optional pay-as-you-go. Koala rolls unused allowance forward for up to 3 months on monthly plans. Writesonic sells an article add-on on Growth, and Simplified charges $10 per extra campaign. Surfer, Scalenut and NeuronWriter don't explain overage handling on their pricing pages.
Do any of these integrate with AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT?
Frase (MCP on every plan), Koala (MCP on every paid plan), NeuronWriter (MCP from Gold) and Surfer (MCP from Pro) list MCP support. Frase says its MCP works with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor.
Is Jasper good for content teams?
Jasper has strong brand-governance features, but its self-serve Pro plan includes one seat, and multi-user teams need the custom Business plan. We don't link to Jasper because it has no open affiliate program.
Final verdict
For most in-house teams and small agencies, Frase is the best-balanced pick based on published plans: clear roles, 3 to 5 seats, up to 10 sites, exportable client reports on Scale and optional pay-as-you-go. Surfer suits large optimization teams that need 10 seats and the deepest collaboration tools. Scalenut Professional is the stand-out for agencies that keep adding clients, and NeuronWriter is the budget way to give everyone a login. Pick Writesonic if your clients care most about AI answers, and Koala if you need publishing volume.
Notes
- Unlimited as marked by Surfer on its pricing page; Surfer does not define the limits on that page.
- Simplified pricing is inconsistent across visible copy and structured data; verify at checkout.
- Ranking order is provisional based only on official pricing/product pages.
